We don’t have any specific details yet, but 20th Century Fox will release The Sound of Music on Blu-ray “in time for the holiday season.” Fox has come up with a new trailer advertising the Blu-ray, which you can check out at the end of this post.
One of the most honored musicals of all time, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s final musical tells the story of Maria Von Trapp, who was a failure as a nun but a great success as governess of the Trapp Family children.
The 1965 film received 10 Oscar nominations and won for Best Picture, Best Director (Robert Wise), Best Editing, Best Music, and Best Sound. Julie Andrews, who a year earlier won an Oscar and the hearts of moviegoers as “Mary Poppins,” earned her second Best Actress nomination for her role as the talented Maria, playing opposite Christopher Plummer as Capt. Von Trapp.
