Mill Creek Entertainment announced that they will release “21 Jump Street: The Complete Series” in an 18-disc DVD set on July 27, 2010. All 103 episodes from the five-season run of the 1987 TV series that boosted the success of the fledgling FOX TV network will be included in a package that carries an SRP of $69.98.
Johnny Depp stars as Officer Tom Hanson, who leads the special Jump Street division of undercover cops who infiltrate local schools to take a bite out of crime. The “21 Jump Street” team included the wise-cracking Officer HT Ioki (Dustin Nguyen), the brilliant Officer Judy Hoffs (Holly Robinson-Peete), the streetsmart Officer Doug Penhall (Peter DeLouise), and in later episodes the loose cannon Officer Dennis Booker (Richard Grieco).
Co-created by Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell (“The A-Team”, The Rockford Files”) not only dealt with timely social issues, but also featured a cavalcade of guest stars including: Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, Jason Priestley, Josh Brolin, Christina Applegate, Bridget Fonda, Dom DeLuise, Rosie Perez, John Waters, Shannen Doherty, Thomas Haden Church, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and many more!
Watch Johnny Depp before he became one of the biggest movie stars in the world. At the same time, you’ll get to see a very well done show that was surprisingly upfront and gritty for the eighties. “21 Jump Street” was one of my favorite shows in high school.
