*The Guinness Book of World Records* has come to the iPhone and iPod Touch. If you’re looking for a game to entertain kids and adults alike on that long plane, train, car or bus ride this summer, Guinness World Records might be just the ticket. While many games for the iPhone/iPod Touch are amazingly simplistic, *Guinness* is a reworked version of the game available for the Wii/DS and clearly seeks to take advantage of everything the iPhone/Ipod Touch has to offer.
After creating your own customizable avatar, you’ll travel to different parts of the world taking on a myriad of different challenges (36 games in total), in an attempt to set regional, national and world records in each. As you earn top scores, as you earn to marks you’ll receive cash to purchase the games challenges–crushing watermelons, throwing washing machines, sheep shearing, plucking feathers from a turkey and more–some of the games are downright silly but rather addicting.
The games can be played solo or you can get up to three friends to play alongside you. Since this is really a game of one-upmanship, it’s perfect for a couple of siblings needing to entertain themselves for a couple of hours. Guinness World Records features Game Spy integration which allows you to post your scores online and see how you’re doing compared to players in your state, country and around the world.
Some of the games (like the “video game challenge” are good enough to be stand alone apps. Alas, along with the good are a couple of clunkers (maybe balloon popping just isn’t my thing). However, most of the games provide hours of fun. 36 solid games for $4.99 is hard to beat.
