From legendary creative team of Aaron Spelling (Charlie’s Angels, Beverly Hills 90210) and Leonard Goldberg (Hart to Hart, Starsky & Hutch), Fantasy Island premiered in January 1977, and became one of primetime TV’s most popular series in TV history. Starring Ricardo Montalban (Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan) and Hervé Villechaize (The Man with the Golden Gun) as the unique leading characters, the series entranced viewers with tropical settings, engaging storylines, and kept fans hooked with its weekly parade of recognizable name actors throughout its successful seven-season run. It is best remembered for Villechaize’s performance as Tattoo, whose cry of “Da plane! Da plane!” made him a pop culture icon.
Imagine a place where any dream or fantasy can come true. Welcome to Fantasy Island. Each week, two guests arrive on the island looking forward to getting their fantasy fulfilled. Their host is the sophisticated Mr. Roarke (Montalban), the charming and fashionable gentleman who, along with his pint-sized assistant, Tattoo (Villechaize) sees to it that their guests’ island visit is all they could ever have imagined. Each fantasy comes with mystery and suspense; and guests always get what they asked for, but rarely what they expect.
Second season of Fantasy Island features guest stars including Desi Arnaz, Jr., John Astin, Scott Baio, Vivian Blaine, Danny Bonaduce, Sonny Bono, Yvonne De Carlo, Troy Donahue, Samantha Eggar, Anne Francis, Jonathan Frakes, Annette Funicello, Eva Gabor, Peter Graves, Sid Haig, Florence Henderson, Celeste Holm, Don Knotts, Michelle Lee, Janet Leigh, Maureen McCormick, Jayne Meadows, Rue McClanahan, Roddy McDowell, Leslie Nielsen, Cassandra Peterson, Eleanor Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Regis Philbin, Robert Reed, Kyle Richards, Cesar Romero, John Saxon, Connie Stevens, Abe Vigoda, among other notables.
